The short story, 'The Dead-House', was inspired by a historical event I uncovered in a book about the history of ghosts - there are more details in the post. It was originally performed on the Tales that Terrify podcast, and now appears in my Black Dog & Other Gothic Tales collection.
The piece, Ghosts of Newcastle, was commissioned by North East Museums (formerly TWAM), in response to items in their collection. I chose 'The Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne' by Arthur E. Grimshaw and 'Grainger Street' by Louis Grimshaw, which guided the choice of ghost stories included in the piece.
