I’ve talked about the delectable Tony Bengtsson on my blog before, and if you’re any kind of fan of folk music, Americana or country, then I highly recommend that you check him out. I went to see him play last Friday with the whole band, and found myself madly plotting the next two books in the Grey O’Donnell series between sets! Work is progressing nicely on book 3. I now have a plot for the entire story, as well as an ending – and a link to book 4!
Last week I asked the lovely folk on my mailing list which of three titles they liked best for the title, and the winner is…
The Town out of Time
Thank you to Katherine Hajer, Larry Kollar, Damien Mocata, Chris Jackson, Derek Willis and Titi Tade for choosing the winning title. I’ll be putting your names in the finished book!

In case you were wondering, To Kill a Dead Man has also had a 5* review on Amazon!
How am I progressing with the 500 words challenge?
As for the 500 Words challenge, I’ve been a bit sporadic so far – days 1, 2, 5 and 7 have seen no writing at all, but I wrote 1,754 words on day 3, 518 on day 4, 1009 on day 6, and 1011 on day 8.
That brings the word count on The Town out of Time up to 4,292. The eventual word count will probably be around the 40k mark so I’ve still got a ways to go yet, but if I manage to write 500 words a day, then I should have a finished first draft in around 71 days!
Jeff sends writing prompts but because I’m using the 500 words for a specific project, I haven’t been following them – but I’m saving the emails for the next time I feel stuck!

The more I think about this the more I think I need to play. Problem is doing this and keeping the blog going… Hmm… *scratches head*
Have you found it motivational or stress inducing when you haven’t managed to do it?

I’ve had a bit of a panic but then I’ve had a word with myself. So I missed yesterday as I was up in Edinburgh, but instead of going “Now I have 1000 words to write”, I’m looking at it as I have two lots of 500 to write today!
